South Sudan is full of invisible costs. As many will see that owning a car is a luxury! Trust me the opposite could be true for many vehicle owners.
There are lots of costs associated with maintaining it whether on the road or repair and maintenance.
If you’re stingy, you may end up footing just to avoid spending on your car or sell the car to avoid all the costs that come with it.
The traffic police is always on the road milking cash from people even for the slightest documents they are lacking.
Whenever you’re stopped on the road, expect the following questions.
Where is your;
- Logbook
- Driver’s license
- Validation Certificate of Driving
- Registration Form for Vehicle with Tinted Glass
- Receipt for Door(If you have Noah Old Model and the Door opens to the left)
- Vehicle Safety Certificate (Fire Extinguisher)
Regardless, am here to break down some of the costs associated with having a car of your own whether for business or personal use.
1. Logbook
The logbook is usually gotten at the time of buying your car and is renewed after every year. It costs about 120USD to process everything including the insurance of the car.
2. Driving license
The driving license costs about 30,000ssp and you will need to go to driving school if you don’t know how to drive. Driving School costs about 33,000ssp. Read more here.
3. Validation Certificate of Driving
Even if you have already gotten a driving license, still you need to do a driving test at the police headquarters in Bulluk. It goes for about 20,000ssp.
4. Registration Form for Vehicle with Tinted Glass
This cost is charged on people whose vehicles come with tint glasses from the factory. Its duration is 6months after which the document expires. Its costs 2000ssp.
5. Receipt for Door
The receipt is for people with Noah Old Model Vehicles or any other vehicle for a business whose door opens on the opposite side of the driver. It costs 10,000ssp and is paid once every month.
6. Vehicle Safety Certificate
The Vehicle Safety Certificate is given to ensure safety measures on the vehicle like Fire Extinguisher to put off the fire. It costs 15,000ssp and lasts for a period of 1 year.
